Generation Y are the main adopters of new technology which is why Expose has created a free app, to be made available for download via the Expose website. The application will be available for iPhones, iPod touch, Blackberries and Smart phones and will be based on the new networking application Bright Kite. It is evident that applications are becoming increasingly popular – “iPod touch users download 16.4 free apps and two apps per month; the average iPhone user download 7.6 free and 2.6 paid apps” which highlighted the opportunity for Expose to incorporate an app to encourage further interaction between creatives.

The application will provide a platform where creatives can see where Expose members have checked in at any venue, any time. “Bright kite makes it easy to meet people based on the places you go. In real-time, you can browse profiles of people around you, see what your friends are up to, post photos and notes to places, all while maintaining comprehensive control over your privacy.” (http://vimeo.com/1984673)

How it works:
Users can click on a venue, then click on the ‘people’ tab, to see who is there. If users see someone that they are not currently friends with, they can click on their name, and load their Expose profile where they can add as a friend – this will also list what Expose run events members are attending. Within the same profile page, users can also link to members Twitter stream and Facebook profile (if they have their Bright Kite account linked to their Twitter and Facebook pages). This ability to interconnect will allow users to determine if they want to friend that person or not.

There will also be a button to “discover who’s nearby and what they’re up to”. Clicking on this feature will show a stream of comments near the users current location or venue. When the Geolocation API is working, it will display updates of what people within the venue or surrounding areas are saying in real-time, which is another layer of social discovery and instantaneous connectivity.

The application will essentially encourage creatives to break out of their circles and attend events or venues on their own, extending beyond Expose initiated events into general day-to-day life activities. This will encourage further contact, as they will be able to see who’s where, which will ultimately increase connections and relationships.
